Muni Fed Energy

According to the Department of Energy, a Mircogrid is a “group of interconnected loads and distributed energy resources with clearly defined electrical boundaries that acts as a single controllable entity with respect to the grid [and can] connect and disconnect from the grid to enable it to operate in both grid-connected or island mode.”

As distributed generation and renewable power projects continue to be the fastest growing segment of the energy industry, Muni-Fed Energy will serve municipalities, utilities, systems integrators and many other types of project developers to mitigate the financial risk of their power projects.

Today’s energy consumer has a diverse array of needs for affordability, reliability and environmental sustainability. Microgrids respond to this diversity of needs by delivering cleaner, more reliable and often cheaper energy to consumers than the current grid.

We believe that a Microgrid should support critical infrastructure that serves a civic purpose, e.g., public safety; hospitals; seaports, airports, water and wastewater treatment; public shelters; correctional facilities; and commercial areas or municipal centers designated as critical by municipal chief elected officials. Furthermore, a Microgrid must fundamentally serves to provide less expensive, more reliable and cleaner electric power.

Muni-Fed is uniquely positioned to serve as a partner, project facilitator and technical expert to support clients in the development of Microgrid projects. Our network of experts and solution providers support project developers in designing and analyzing power systems, which often contain a mix of conventional generators, combined heat and power, solar photovoltaics, wind turbines, fuel cells, batteries, biomass, hydropower and other inputs.
